Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Program


ADB-JSP, financed by the Government of Japan and organized by the Asian Development Bank, aims to provide an opportunity citizens of ADB's developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies. The Division of Environmental Studies which is consisted of six departments, and the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) have been designated by ADB to receive allocation with the ADB-JSP scholarship since 2000. The following departments are accepting ADB-JSP students.


ADB Japan Scholarships Benefits:
1. Full Tuition Fees
2. Cost of living
3. Airfare from home country to Japan and vice versa
4. Health and medical insurance in Japan
6. Researchers may receive a grant for their thesis upon request

ADB Japan Scholarship Eligible Fields:
* Department of Natural Environmental Studies
* Department of Human and Engineered Environmental Studies
* Department of Socio-cultural Environmental Studies
* Department of Ocean Technology, Policy, and Environment
* Department of Environment Systems


Eligible Criteria of ADB Japan Scholarships:
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree.
2. National of ABD member countries or from Japanese ODA scholarship-eligible country.
3. At least two years of professional work experience at the time of the application.
4. Be in good health.
5. Must accept to return to their home country after completion of the scholarship.
6. English Proficiency.
7. Under 35 years of age.
8. Must be eligible for admission into an institute (having a valid police certificate).
9. In order to receive a master’s degree at the University of Tokyo, candidates must be admitted.
10. Applicants who are ADB employees or members of their immediate families cannot apply.
11. Students must be healthy and capable of living in Tokyo.
12. Candidates who are not living or working in their own countries are not eligible to apply.
13. It must be agreed upon by the candidates that they will return to their home countries following the program.
15. For the scholarship to continue for a second year, the candidate must maintain an exceptional academic record.

* Academic transcripts.
* Completed Application Form.
* Copy of passport.
* 2 letters of reference.
* CV
