The Wallonia-Brussels International Excellence Grants Program (IN WBI) enables the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to host international researchers for postdoctoral studies or research programs. This program offers both long-term, renewable scholarships with a minimum of one year’s duration and short-term, non-renewable scholarships with a duration of one to three months at the postdoctoral level.

Benefits of Wallonia-Brussels International Excellence:
- 2.120 euros per month, which goes towards supporting living costs, housing, textbooks, and domestic travel costs.
- For the course of the program, Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI) will pay for one round trip’s worth of international travel expenses.
- Additionally, WBI offers “healthcare” insurance to fellows from outside the EU. (Only for long-term scholarships) WBI is responsible for “repatriation assistance” insurance.
Eligibility Criteria For Wallonia-Brussels International Excellence:
Researchers from any nation who hold a Ph.D. degree from a specific foreign university and who want to pursue a postdoctoral program in a university run or supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Moreover, all nationalities of international students are eligible to apply for this award.
Application Process:
- The form must be typed and emailed to the program manager as a single PDF file with a maximum size of 10 MB.

- Funding commitment declaration
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation, written by academic institution staff who can evaluate your work’s scientific merit, are required. These cannot be provided to you; they must be delivered by email to WBI.
- Letter of consent or invitation from the host university or the professor(s) in charge of the study. It should be reminded that you are responsible for conducting your own research into the host university; WBI does not become involved in this process.
- A copy of each diploma (bachelor’s, master’s with 120 credits, and PhD).
